It has been over a year since Luigi and I set up this book blog. I have kept a personal blog ever since Friendster times but it was only in November last year that I decided, no scratch that, I was finally convinced, to have my own domain. And because I have grown to be virtually active in The Filipino Group over at Goodreads, I was a bit encouraged to start my own book blog. After all, I decided, if I have to blog about myself, what is there to write about except for my love of books? Of course, this does not mean I do not have a life outside books, but books play a major, major part in my life. Books make my life sweeter and more special, and writing about books make the reading experience more delightful. This is the main reason why It’s A Wonderful Bookworld was born.

After over a year of book blogging, I can say that I have grown both as a reader and as a writer. My book preferences have expanded and I would like to think that my writing skills have improved. When before, the only books I thought were good are of the crime and suspense genre, now I have discovered that I love reading — and reviewing –children’s books. I have also found a new love in dystopian novels such as The Knife Of Never Letting Go and The Hunger Games. I still consider crime novels my comfort reads and there are still times that I long to read books by my favorite crime/thriller author like John Sandford and Dean Koontz. As to writing book reviews, since starting up this book blog, I have found out that I can now manage to write a book review of more than 500 words, unlike before when a sentence or two is all that I can accomplish. πŸ˜€

There have been down times in my blogging this past year, especially when it comes to technical aspects of which I admit I have Jurassic abilities, and during these unwelcome hiatus, I was more than once tempted to give up this domain and start anew. Thanks to Luigi, though, because he has more patience than I have, we decided to carry on and have reached more than a year of book blogging. πŸ™‚

For the first anniversary of this beloved book blog, we decided to change the banner as a simple form of celebration. I cannot yet host a giveaway as seems to be the trend but hopefully in the coming years, It’s A Wonderful Bookworld can be self-assured and self-sufficient enough to celebrate its anniversary through a book giveaway. πŸ˜‰

The new banner

The new banner was published Friday last week but life caught up with me; it is only now that I can properly introduce a fitting anniversary blog post. The new banner was Luigi’s idea but my only request was that if possible, he include one of my favorite books in it. So, if you look closely, you will see Francine River’s An Echo In The Darkness which is the second book in the Mark of the Lion Trilogy – all three books in the trilogy that I oh so definitely love. πŸ™‚Β  The empty mug stands for how my constant thirst for knowledge and inspiration that can be assuaged by books, but it can also stand for my incessant love for coffee. πŸ˜€ Of course, there are my ever reliable signature eyeglasses, without which I cannot definitely appreciate the written word, and the steel stand on the left portion of a lamp shade that gives out a warm, yellow light to enhance the effect. πŸ˜‰

So there. I hope you all love the new banner as I do. Before I end this post, I sincerely thank every kindred soul who has left a comment or spent part of their precious time reading my reviews. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! I know, my reviews may not be always congruent with the views of some, but I am glad that through this blog I can freely express my thoughts and vent out my reactions regarding a particular book, or even squee with delight at any and all things book-related.

Happy one year anniversary, It’s A Wonderful Bookworld! Cheers to more blogging years!

  1. Oh! I’m so late, still, have a Happy Blog Anniversary, Lynai!

And I like the new banner. Although I have to admit β€” seeing it the first time β€” na kopita (the wine glass use by priests during mass) ‘yon, lamp stand pala! πŸ˜€ #EyeSight/ComprehensionFail

More wonderful book-filled, love-filled years to come! d(^.^)b

    1. Thank you, thank you my dear alien friend of 3 years! This blogging experience is made more meaningful by fellow book bloggers like you! (at walang halong chorva yan!)

      CHEERS! πŸ˜‰

  2. Happy Birthday, Lynai’s book bloggy! πŸ™‚

My book blog banner also features my favorite book of all time: “The Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum. As for all the other “favorites” and loves of my life, those are featured in the banner of my personal blog which, like you, includes a cup of coffee. πŸ˜‰

I will be here when the book giveaways begin! πŸ˜€

    1. Yes, I see that too. πŸ˜‰ I wanted a banner that shows the beach too but then there are time (and location) constraints so I have to make do with this. Plus, I don’t have the right to complain since it was Gian who did all the work, hehee…Thanks for the greetings, Monique! Cheers to our book blogs! πŸ˜‰

I really SHOULD read The Wizard of Oz soonest!
