books in the mail, again!

YAAAY!!!

Books will always be one of the best gifts I will ever receive. Just last week, I received books in the mail from a dear friend, Tricia, who also maintains a beautiful book blog (I love the layout!). And then today the mailman delivered another set of books for me. (I think I’m the only one at the office who gets to receive books in the mail, hee).

weee! 🙂

The loot this time came from a very-wonderful-also-bookish-friend, Atty. Monique, of Bookish Little Me. Thank you sooo much! 🙂

I am going to show you what’s inside this delightful parcel. The pack contains 3 books, but too bad, I made the “mistake” of opening the package in front of my boss, she immediately saw The Pillars of The Earth, and since she’s a Ken Follet fan, I lent the same to her for her weekend read. 😉

Here’s a picture of the other two books. Too bad I wasn’t able to take a picture of POTE before I lent it.

Blindness and Graceling

When Monique posted in her blog a list of her (old) books she is giving away, I got first dibs on the books above, so here they are! Yay to bookblog giveaways! 🙂

Blindness by Jose Saramago

I’ve been seeing Blindness by Jose Saramago in Booksale but since I am not in a hurry to read it yet, I kept putting off buying myself a copy. Good thing, Monique was willing to give away her copy so I just grabbed the chance. 🙂

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Graceling by Kristin Cashore is a young adult fantasy novel and I have been reading a lot of interesting reviews about this debut novel. I once saw a hardbound copy in Booksale for only Php50.00 but without its jacket so I didn’t bother buying it. That was the last time I chanced upon a copy and it is just wonderful that Monique gave away her own copy. 😀

My bookish friends have been strongly encouraging me to read The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet but considering the towering pile of books in my room that I have yet to read, I had been a bit hesitant to get myself a copy. Now, I have my own copy (though it’s not yet with me as of the meantime, haha) and I am putting this on top of my Reading List for next year. 🙂

I have long been telling myself to stop buying and collecting books but I guess books will always be my guilty pleasure. Who cares, I am a happy soul! 🙂

  1. YAY for books indeed! I hope you’ll enjoy Blindness and Graceling: they’re not in my priority of books to be read anytime soon, and I’m desperate for more space, so there you go.

Happy reading! And merry christmas again! 😉

    1. I cleaned up my book boxes recently and gave away some books so I definitely have more than enough space for these “new” books. 🙂

I can’t thank you enough! Merry Christmas to you too! 🙂

  2. I loved Graceling. And just in time for you to get that because the next book is coming next year!

I also got POTE from Kuya Doni yesterday. Such a thick book! :))

    1. POTE is thick indeed! Just as thick as GOT, I think? I have POTE and GOT on top of my reading list for next year. Are we still going to have a read-along on GOT? 😉

      1. Yes, we’re still on for that! 🙂 Tricia is joining rin. I think there’s already a thread for that for the first batch who read it, but I can create a new one for us (and no more blogging about it kagaya nung dati haha, until we have to review na. :D).

        1. Yes, I have a tendency to fall behind with my blogging duties if we do it by parts. Haha. Okay then, I guess I have to put up my reading list for January 2012 already. 😉
