Books will always be one of the best gifts I will ever receive. Just last week, I received books in the mail from a dear friend, Tricia, who also maintains a beautiful book blog (I love the layout!). And then today the mailman delivered another set of books for me. (I think I’m the only one at the office who gets to receive books in the mail, hee).
The loot this time came from a very-wonderful-also-bookish-friend, Atty. Monique, of Bookish Little Me. Thank you sooo much! 🙂
I am going to show you what’s inside this delightful parcel. The pack contains 3 books, but too bad, I made the “mistake” of opening the package in front of my boss, she immediately saw The Pillars of The Earth, and since she’s a Ken Follet fan, I lent the same to her for her weekend read. 😉
Here’s a picture of the other two books. Too bad I wasn’t able to take a picture of POTE before I lent it.
When Monique posted in her blog a list of her (old) books she is giving away, I got first dibs on the books above, so here they are! Yay to bookblog giveaways! 🙂
I’ve been seeing Blindness by Jose Saramago in Booksale but since I am not in a hurry to read it yet, I kept putting off buying myself a copy. Good thing, Monique was willing to give away her copy so I just grabbed the chance. 🙂
Graceling by Kristin Cashore is a young adult fantasy novel and I have been reading a lot of interesting reviews about this debut novel. I once saw a hardbound copy in Booksale for only Php50.00 but without its jacket so I didn’t bother buying it. That was the last time I chanced upon a copy and it is just wonderful that Monique gave away her own copy. 😀
My bookish friends have been strongly encouraging me to read The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet but considering the towering pile of books in my room that I have yet to read, I had been a bit hesitant to get myself a copy. Now, I have my own copy (though it’s not yet with me as of the meantime, haha) and I am putting this on top of my Reading List for next year. 🙂
I have long been telling myself to stop buying and collecting books but I guess books will always be my guilty pleasure. Who cares, I am a happy soul! 🙂
