At the start of this year, I have resolved to scrimp on my book purchases especially that the wedding is set for this year as well as to reduce the number of unread books on my shelf (or on the floor, under the bed, on the table, etc.). This does not mean though that I shall give up book buying altogether because that would mean suicide on my part (of course, I am exaggerating but you know what I mean).
Last month, I bought a total of 5 books (2 brand new and 3 used). For this month, my book buys happened last weekend where I chanced upon 2 precious books from Booksale, all for Php 45.00 only! Yay! 🙂
Here’s a pic of the loot:
The first book is Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson, the same author who wrote Speak which I was able to read last year. Speak was such a strong and memorable novel, I knew then that I’ll be reading more of Anderson’s books.
The next, and last, book buy for this month is a hardcover edition of Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal Dreams. To those who follow this blog, it is no secret that I am a fan of Barbara Kingsolver ever since I read The Bean Trees. I loved Taylor Greer in The Bean Trees so I resolved to read its sequel, Pigs in Heaven, as soon as possible, and liked it too, no surprise there. I saw a paperback copy of Animal Dreams for only Php 20.00 while browsing Booksale last weekend but after seeing a hardbound copy for only Php 25.00, I need not think twice which copy to buy. 🙂
Two books are not really a loot, but then for a book hoarder like me, these are just priceless additions to my collection. As to when I’ll finally get to read them is another story. 🙂
