These are my hauls last month:
Quite a big haul, I know, considering my strong resolve to cut down on my book hoarding. Unfortunately (or fortunately?), the last week of March had been very stressful for me I had to de-stress in my most favorite de-stressing way — book hunting — which resulted to the purchase of the first four books in the photo above.
Black Beauty by Anna Sewell — this is one of the children’s books included in the 501 Must-Read Books list which I am currently completing. I had actually bought a copy of this book last January, except that it was the abridged version ( I did not know it was abridged when I bought it), so seeing a copy in Booksale was a welcome sight.
Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card — I have read strong reviews on this novel I have to see for myself whether I can learn to love fantasy this time.
The Law of Similars by Chris Bohjalian — I have read The Pilot’s Wife a long time ago and remember liking it. Let’s see if I will like this book too, the blurb says it’s about a lawyer and a crime so I guess these are themes I will likely appreciate.
The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood — I am currently reading Surfacing which is my very first Atwood novel and so far I am enthralled by the prose such that I did not hesitate getting this book to add to my collection.
Teacher Man by Frank McCourt — During the last two months, I’ve read McCourt’s two other memoirs, Angela’s Ashes and “Tis, and I got curious about this third book. Frank had a very interesting life and I’d like to read more about his experiences this time as a teacher.
Such wonderful books, don’t you think? Now, if I only have enough time to read all of them. The wedding is just a little over a month away! Whew!
