Since it’s my birth month, I indulged myself to a little book shopping yesterday at Booksale. I practiced some restraint still because I stuck to my budget which is not more than P100 for each book. Although it wasn’t really a big haul — I only bought 2 books — but I was veryΒ  happy with the turn-out of my hunt:

  • Gilead by Marilynne Robinson. I am trying to imitate my wonderful bookish friend, Angus, in completing M.Robinson’s books. I already have a hardback copy of Home, but Angus says I must first read Gilead first before I read Home. So when I saw a copy of this book yesterday, and saw that it was within budget, I didn’t hesitate to pick it up. πŸ˜‰
  • Prayers for Rain by Dennis Lehane. I am a huge fan of Dennis Lehane, way before the Mystic River and Shutter Island fame, andΒ  I am also trying to complete his books, especially the McKenzie-Gennaro series. So far, there are only 2 more books of his that I have yet to find – Darkness, Take My Hand, and his recent novel, Moonlight Mile. I also see these two books sometimes but as I’ve said, I am sticking to my P100/book budget, so I will wait for the perfect time. Prolonging gratification, yes? πŸ˜‰

Happy birth month to me! πŸ™‚

  1. Hello, Lynai!

I admire people with self-imposed restrictions on their book-buying habits. Such admirable restraint, if I may say so. I couldn’t even stick to my original plan of not buying any books every time I go inside a bookstore. I guess I’m not determined enough! Hehehehe.

    1. Hi Peter!

It’s a habit I have been working on since several years ago haha! Somehow, thinking about the pile of unread books in my room helps in strengthening my resolve haha! πŸ˜€

      Thanks for dropping by! πŸ™‚
