Books in the Mail: The History of Love & Our Memories of Hope (and some pretty bookmarks!)

Books in the Mail new button

The sweetest surprise of the day came just after I arrived at the office today:

from Louize

First off, my heartfelt thank you to Louize for being the sweetest. ♥

And now the books:

  • The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. This had been on my wishlist for a time and I’ve been hoping to chance upon a copy on bookstores here, but had no such luck. A little confession – I was so frustrated already for not finding a copy that I decided to buy an ebook online last week. I received the file, alright, but somehow the format isn’t easy on the eyes. Imagine my big surprise when I saw this on the parcel today? *creys*
  • There Is a Balm in Gilead: Our Memories of Hope. This is a folio of memories of hope compiled by our book club in celebration of the group’s discussion of Marilynne Robinson’s Gilead (4/5 stars). Can’t wait to read it and be inspired. 🙂

Aside from the books, there are also beautiful bookmarks:

The The Sense of An Ending bookmark is notable because I think I look pretty on the picture. Just kidding. 😀 Louize and some other friends had a read-along of this Julian Barnes’ novella, and since I’ve read this book beforehand, I eagerly awaited (and butted in on) their online discussion. They eventually decided to hold a meet-up to discuss the sense of the ending, and if Alabang is just a train ride away, I would have attended too. 🙂 Thanks again, Louize, for making me me feel so loved. 🙂
