REQUIRED READING: September 2013

I did say that I might be skipping Required Reading for a few months, but I digress. Lately, I have acquired the skill to still read and blog amidst Nanay duties (more so that the baby has been taking longer naps now) so now I’m back. I will still choose fewer books than the usual, though, and mostly these will be books for the monthly reads of the book club.

So, hello September!

rr2013-09

For this month, I have chosen two books, one a TFG monthly read and the other the third installment of a popular series:

September Reading

  • Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. The theme for the book club’s monthly read is Controversial Books, and this book won in the online polls over Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and The Gospel According to Jesus Christ by Jose Saramago. I’ve started a few pages last night, and I’m already taken in by the first few lines.
  • A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin. I was left hanging by the ending of A Clash of Kings so I am reading right on with this third book. I was told this is the most action-packed book in the series.

It’s already the start of the “-ber” months. Happy Christmas everyone! 🙂

  1. Wow, Lynai! I have the complete set of GoT. But I don’t think I’m gonna read it anytime soon. George’s reputation about killing his characters (even MCs) is quite scary. I don’t think I could stand that.
