Wednesday Diaries: an additional reading goal

Wednesday Diaries logo

Before posting my reading goal for this year, I considered including a list of books that I should read before the year ends but scrapped the idea. I thought that I should be spontaneous with my reading, as what I’ve been doing with the monthly Required ReadingsΒ  but then I saw some blog posts of required reading lists for the year that I reconsidered. I can actually choose just a few books, and as much as possible include them in the monthly required reading lists that I do. It will then be hitting two (or three) birds with one stone because I have several books on my physical TBR pile that I planned to read but for some reason, got distracted with other books (by ebooks, especially), so maybe by making a list of the books I want to read soon, I can get started on those books that have been with me for years already.

So with that, I am adding another reading goal for the year and that is to read the following books:

  1. Home by Marilynne Robinson
  2. Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
  3. The History of Love by Nicole Krauss
  4. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
  5. Atonement by Ian McEwan
  6. Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
  7. The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
  8. The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner
  9. The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
  10. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

I will not assign a particular month for these books because I’ll let my mood for a particular month decide, but still make sure that I choose books to read from among the items on this list.

Let’s see how this goes, yes? πŸ™‚

  1. Ay! The Thief! I’m excited for you! Actually The Thief isn’t that much exciting, to be honest. But the second book, Queen of Attolia, I loved! The Eyre Affair is pretty cool too. Btw, I have Cloud Atlas already. But like you said, let’s rely on our mood (moods?). And our moods better coordinate with each other. Haha! Lovely list of books by the way. πŸ˜€

    1. Yes, mood, do you hear that? Better coordinate with Tin’s haha! Will read The Thief during summer so I can read the second book immediately without interruption. πŸ˜‰ Thanks, Tin!

    1. In that case, I’m glad I put up this list. I just know that I’d find the books interesting considering the high ratings I see on Goodreads. πŸ™‚ Thanks, Angus!

  2. Yay, Lynai! When you are in the mood to read these books (Home, The Eyre Affair, The Thirteenth Tale) na, text me. Let’s be reading buddies!

And I agree with Tin, QoA is better than The Thief.

    *bookpushing* A History of Love!!!

    1. For sure, Maria! Didn’t we plan to read Thirteenth Tale together but never got into it? Haha. Are you up to reading The Eyre Affair next month? It’s not yet I final plan but I’m considering it. πŸ™‚

And yes to History of Love. The Thief will have to wait probably until summer. πŸ˜‰

  3. Then I’ll borrow a copy of the Eyre Affair next f2f πŸ™‚ if ever, last week of Feb is good for me. and to the 13th tale – you’re correct! let’s try again!
