It’s the second Filipino Friday for this year and only 21 days to go until the Filipino Readercon 2014: Readers Turned Writers.
Here’s this week’s topic:
As a reader, have you ever thought about writing a book? What kind of books/stories do you want to write? Or are you now a published author, and what compelled you to go fulfil this dream? How was your journey from reader to writer? How did you go about getting your book out there?
Have I ever thought about writing a book? Well, yes, I would get inspired now and then to write a story every time I read a local contemporary novella. I thought that if others can, why can’t I? (How ambitious, haha!) So, I started doing an outline of the characters and I would try to formulate a story or plot and would focus on which story ideas I can get from conversations with friends involving relationships. The piece of paper containing the outline is still inside my bag (crumpled and buried inside all other office files, heh). But that’s just that, nothing definite yet, and more often than not, I would trash the idea because I have heard how hard it is to finish a story. I don’t even know how to start, in the first place. Haha!
I might still go and write a story in the future, who knows. And if I do, it will be something contemporary or maybe YA, with themes on family, friendships, and relationships. Most probably, it will be a love story, because I like kilig. Hee. And if ever I finish a story, there’s still the question of whether I will be brave enough to have it published. The future is uncertain, and anything can happen, so we’ll see. In the meantime, I will enjoy reading and trying to make a dent out of my growing TBR pile. 🙂
Have a fun weekend, everyone! 🙂
