Required Reading: December 2014

HOHOHO! Merry Christmas!

December is one of my favorite months of the year (together with February and October). There is something about this month that lifts my spirits no matter how harassed or haggard I feel. Maybe it is the prospect of festivities and celebration that accompanies the holidays  or the thought that the year will soon end and it’s a time to make a fresh start. There is really something about endings and beginnings that gives me hope and inspiration.

Reading-wise, I also enjoy coming up with my final reading list for the year. Before we go into my last and final book/s for 2014, here’s a quick recap of my November reading:

  • The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. Unfinished, currently on Chapter 15. This is expected to spill over to December because I started late in the month and I am taking it slowly.
  • Cupidity by Hayley and Michael DiMarco. Also expected to spill over to this month because our reading plan says so (haha). But we’re on the last chapter/week now, so yay! It’s even better than when I first read it 2 years ago.
  • Dwellers by Eliza Victoria. 4/5 stars. If you were to inhabit the body of another person, who would that be?

Lately, I’ve lamented over the fact that I have a lot of unfinished books and books pending to be reviewed, and writing this post now reminds me of such sentiment. I don’t think I’ll be able to finish reading my currently reading in time for the new year, but at least I have hopes that I will be able to work on my “review” backlog during the holidays. Anyway, finished or not finished, I have required myself to read another book this month.

My December Required Reading!

My True Love Gave To Me

It’s only one book, but it’s an anthology of 12 stories so it will feel like I have read a lot. Hihi! I am excited to read this, not only because the stories are perfect holiday reads, but because there is a story by Rainbow Rowell. If it isn’t obvious yet, I am a big Rainbow fan. (Special thanks to fellow Rainbow fan, Meliza, for this birthday gift!)

Happy holidays, everyone! 🙂
