Book Title: Keep the Faith
Release Date: July 31, 2016
Author: Ana Tejano
As a community development worker, Faith was quite familiar with heartbreak and recovery after all the time she spent on disaster relief missions. So when her five-year relationship ends right before she left for a mission trip to a typhoon-stricken town in Iloilo, she tries not to make a big deal out of it. How can she be broken up about a breakup when she’s with people who literally lost everything?
But now that she’s back, all Faith wants is for her life to go back to normal and have people stop looking at her with pity. Never mind that she still has a lot of questions about the breakup, or that she feels a tiny ache every time her ex comes up in conversations. She’s okay now, and happily distracted by Nico Tamayo, the attractive new guy at work.
With new possibilities in the horizon, Faith thinks she is well on her way to moving on. But when her past comes calling back to her, will all the good things in her present be enough to keep her on the path? Or will she finally learn that there was more to heartbreak and recovery than what she knows?
When I interviewed Ana Tejano for her first book, Fall Like Rain, she hinted on a second book in the works. A couple of years later, Faith’s story is now out in Keep The Faith. In this interview, Ana talks, among others, about how she decided to have an Ilonggo character, what her local pegs are for Faith and Nico, and her upcoming books.
Hi, Ana! I’ve read Keep the Faith and I must say Nico is such an endearing guy. I must be biased because I’m from Iloilo (haha!) but I had doses of kilig while reading the Ilonggo/Hiligaynon parts. What made you choose an Ilonggo as a character?
Ana: I…honestly cannot remember anymore. It may be when I decided that Faith came from a relief and rehabilitation mission in Iloilo, but I also remember just wanting a guy who wasn’t from Manila. I thought it would be a good challenge.
And well, it’s the City of Love right? Plus that darling Ilonggo accent? So yeah, maybe that, too. 😀
I believe you chose perfectly, hee. 😉 Let’s talk about your pegs for Keep the Faith. If you were to cast local artists in KTF, who would it be?
Ha! This is fun. I’m not good with pegs (wrote Fall Like Rain without them!), but Keep the Faith had them, at least for the main character and the love interest. For Faith, I would cast Louise de los Reyes.
For Nico, I had him pegged as JC Santos (the hair, my friend).
Of course, our favorite #romanceclass LI peg, Gio Gahol, also has this particular picture that was Nico all the way. And because he performed it with Gab Pangilinan in FeelsFest, she can also be Faith. 🙂

All.the feels. <3 Since we already talked about who to cast for Faith and Nico, let’s talk about a theme song. If you were to choose a song for Faith & Nico, what would it be?
I didn’t have this on the playlist I used while writing, but I heard this again lately and I thought it’s a good song for them. 🙂 Love is Beginning by Imaginary Future:
“So lets start carving our own path / one day it will become a road / and we’ll drive down to the countryside / oh look how the colours are changing / new stars appear in the night sky / this heart is starting to come to life.” <3

Those are such lovely lyrics. So, in Fall Like Rain, you wrote about Rain’s story, and this time in Keep the Faith, we read about Faith. Do we get to read Meah’s story soon? Is there a next book in the works?
Yes! I’m writing a bunch of short stories for a friends-to-lovers collection (favorite trope!). I’m on story 2 out of 4, so there’s a lot of work to do. That will be out by April. Meah’s book was supposed to be that one, but she demanded a bit of time, but I’m working on having her book out later this year. 🙂
Yay, I’m excited for you! One final question: Describe Keep the Faith in one word.
Keep the Faith is a journey. Faith’s story is not just romance, but her journey and faith in itself is a journey. 🙂
Congratulations again, Ana! ♥
